Head Track Coach
July 9, 2010 – Ed Gorman, SITRAC board member was selected this week to be
the head coach for the 2010 United States Junior Track & Field team heading to the I.A.A.F. World Jr. Championship in Moncton, Canada.
Gorman was elated when the coaching staff was announced "I am honored to have been selected and look forward to representing our country and serving our sport and the outstanding athletes that have earned a spot on the U.S. team. We will compete in Moncton, July 19-25th".
One of the premier athletes Gorman will be coaching will be Robby Andrews. Andrews the son of SI Tech Asst. principal Bob Andrews qualified in the 800Mt. run and is the indoor N.C.A.A. champion at that distance.
Gorman, a St. Peter's graduate started his coaching career at St. Peter's and was the first boys track coach at St. Joseph's by the Sea in the 1970's.
Gorman has served as coach for various U.S. teams throughout his career and has coached at several high profile college programs. Manhattan and Arizona to name just a few.
The honor bestowed this week to Gorman was especially sweet as he celebrated his 60th. birthday.
